B30 BIODIESEL PROGRAM IN INDONESIA
President of Indonesia – Joko Widodo will increase biodiesel up to 30% in 2020 (B30), the Cabinet Secretary office said in a statement on Twitter. Indonesia, the world’s leading palm oil producer aims to start the B30 program in January 2020 to replace of B20 program in 2016. Indonesia palm oil production reached 43 milion tons in 2018 and predicted increase about more than 1 million tons in 2019.

Indonesian government coped with the European Union due to import duties on Indonesian Biodiesel products with an intensity of 8-18%. This import duties are valid for five years, starting from January 2020 in order to condemn the deforestation.
To ensure the smooth implementation of B30, the government had trial tests form June to October 2019.
F.X. Sutijastoto, general manager of renewable energy at the Ministry of Energy and Minerals said 9.6 million kilograms of methyl esters of fatty acids (FAME) are expected to be used in 2020 for B30 biodiesel program. If the B30 biodiesel program is successful, Indonesian goverment will start planning for B50 biodiesel program.
